Maunawila ʻŌpio

June 3 - July 6, 2024

Monday - Friday 8am - 2:30pm

The Maunawila ʻŌpio Summer program was created to teach Wahi Kūpuna Stewardship practices to youth in the Koʻolauloa area. The Maunawila Heiau Complex is the location for the program and it is through their time on this site that youth are exposed to possible career pathways in the various avenues of conservation. This program not only helps to expose youth to future possibilities but also provides an educational stipend to support their current education goals. We have seen lasting relationships between our youth participants and the connections that they make with this special place. We are grateful for the opportunity to teach these youth and make these connections with their own wahi pana in their community.

Mahalo to the City & County of Honolulu for supporting our ʻŌpio!!
