Financial Controller
The Controller is a key leadership position responsible for managing all aspects of Hawaiʻi Land Trust's (HILT) financial operations. This role ensures sound financial management, compliance with accounting standards, and supports strategic decision-making. The Controller will oversee accounting, budgeting, audit, financial reporting, investments, and financial policy development. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Controller works closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and other senior staff to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization.

Director of ʻĀina Transactions
Hawaiʻi Land Trust (HILT) is looking for a Director of ʻĀina Transactions to lead our ‘Āina Transactions team, which uses legal and financial tools to preserve valuable existing connections with ʻāina and facilitate greater access to ʻāina in support of our mission. Transaction types may include fee and easement acquisitions, leases, licenses, and other similar agreements for lands with ecological, cultural, agricultural, residential, commercial, or other community value across Hawaiʻi.
This position will oversee and participate in all stages of land transactions—from opportunity scoping, community engagement, and due diligence to negotiation, fundraising, and closing. It is also responsible for the management of staff and collaboration with HILT’s leadership team and Board of Directors. If the selected candidate is an attorney licensed to practice in Hawaiʻi, the role may be expanded to also serve as in-house counsel.

ʻĀina Transactions Associate
Hawaiʻi Land Trust (HILT) is seeking an ʻĀina Transactions Associate to support the legal, financial, and administrative work of HILT’s ʻĀina Transactions program. This role is responsible for assisting with land transaction projects, such as acquisitions, leases, licenses, and other similar agreements that advance equitable access to and protection of lands with ecological, cultural, agricultural, residential, commercial, and other community value across Hawaiʻi.
Under the leadership of the Director of ʻĀina Transactions, the Associate will assist with transaction scoping, due diligence, community and partner engagement, document preparation and review, project management, and other related tasks. This is a growth-oriented role that offers opportunities for professional development in conservation, real estate, and land justice work. If the selected candidate is an attorney licensed to practice in Hawaiʻi, the role may be expanded to also serve as in-house counsel.

Maui Field Technician
Hawaiʻi Land Trust (HILT) is seeking a Field Technician to join its Maui-based team. The position’s primary responsibility will be habitat restoration to help fulfill HILT’s strategic goals and objectives for Waiheʻe Coastal Dunes & Wetlands Refuge and Nuʻu Refuge. This includes preserving and enhancing the natural, cultural, and community value of the sites and providing opportunities for the community to connect and develop kuleana for Waiheʻe and Nuʻu through education, service, and recreation. The position will also be tasked with helping at other HILT sites and on other projects, as needed. This position reports to HILTʻs Director of ʻĀina Stewardship and on-site ʻāina steward and educators.

Kauaʻi Steward & Educator
Hawaiʻi Land Trust (HILT) is seeking a Steward and Educator to join its Kauaʻi-based team. The position’s primary responsibilities will include restoring and preserving natural and cultural resources and engaging the community in education and service along Kauaʻi’s north shore. The position may also be tasked with related work for other HILT projects and programs, as needed.
