Camping - Waiheʻe Coastal Dunes & Wetlands Refuge, Maui

Volunteer Requirement

Campsite reservations are available for those who have joined in on a HILT hosted Volunteer Event at the Waihee Refuge. You must attend and sign in at such an event before being eligible to make a camping reservation.

Camping opportunities are on a 1-to-1 volunteer-camp-volunteer-camp sequence basis; i.e. you may not make another camping reservation request until your camping visit has occurred and you subsequently volunteer again.

Participation in the camping program by any individual or group is at the discretion of HILT and the opportunity to volunteer or to camp may be denied at any time.

Attending a volunteer event does not guarantee a camping opportunity as camping space and dates are limited.

This policy was revised effective 1/1/2022.

Reservation Information

Failure to abide by the Rules of Use and Access will result in a 1 year minimum suspension from the camping program.

Due to tree hazards reservations will be cancelled when forecast wind gusts are 35mph or greater.

Booking

Green in the calendar below indicates that there is at least one unused site for that day. It does not necessarily indicate and overnight availability as the site must be available on the following day as well. Consecutive green days do not necessarily indicate an availability for more than one day at a single site.

On the reservation form select your desired start date and number of nights. Once you have made your selection the list of available sites for your requested time frame will be listed.

If you receive a red "Cannot rent resource" error after you make your selection then there is no availability for a single site during your selected time frame; try a shorter duration or a different start date.

New dates open up regularly. How far ahead a reservation can be made is limited and is usually about 60 days out; dates beyond that will show as unavailable in the calendar below. Check back as dates will continue to open up.
