Mahalo & Happy Thanksgiving

Aloha HILT ‘Ohana,

This Thanksgiving season we are deeply thankful for you and your support, the terrific successes you helped us achieve this past year, and the incredible lands that make up our beautiful State.Perhaps the best way for us to thank you for your support, and show our respect to this spectacular place, is to deliver tangible and lasting accomplishments with our land conservation mission.  This year, thanks to your support, we were able to deliver a number of tangible and lasting thank you notes such as the following:

  • Launched HILT’s successful New Talk Story on the Land free environmental education series;
  • Acquired and conserved HILT’s first public preserve on Oʻahu, the Maunawila Heiau Preserve;
  • Secured HILT’s first Conservation Collaboration Agreement with a local school;
  • Acquired a perpetual Conservation Easement on the Jackson property in the Volcano area of Hawaiʻi Island – HILT’s 5th Conservation Easement for our Kīpuka Mosaic Project there;
  • Awarded National Accreditation by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission;
  • Completed the complex Kaulahao closing and acquired a perpetual Conservation Easement on that land along the north shore of Maui;
  • Acquired a perpetual Conservation Easement on the world renowned Merwin Palm Forest on Maui;
  • Acquired a perpetual Conservation Easement on the Dreisbach land in the scenic Hana Highway coastal corridor; and
  • Acquired a perpetual Conservation Easement on the HRP Hana LLC land contiguous with the Dreisbach land previously conserved – the HRP Hana LLC Conservation Easement marked our sixth successful conservation closing of the year, an all-time HILT record.

I am pleased to report that we are also hard at work on writing more tangible and lasting thank you notes to you before year’s end.

We are wishing you and your family a truly wonderful Thanksgiving season, and please know how thankful we are for you and all the good things you do to help advance HILT’s time-sensitive land conservation mission.

Mahalo,

Edward Sortwell Clement, Jr., Executive Director
